Description

Abraham Lincoln: 1861 Inauguration Ball Dance Card. 2 3/8" x 3 5/8"; [Washington D.C.]; [March 4, 1861]. Die-cut dance card issued by Philp & Solomons for the Union Ball in honor of the Inauguration of Abraham Lincoln. Originally issued as a two-part, four-page card (printed front and back) strung together at top left, the front page containing the invitation cover and order of dancing is no longer present.

Condition: Minor toning with some scattered soiling. Minor edgewear and a small hole at top right margin where pages were bound. Previously mounted with loss to the list of "Engagements" on verso. Adhesive remnants at upper right.
