The New York Daily Gazette , June 4, 1789, 4 pgs., 12" x 19 1/2". The newspaper contains an inside page printing of the first act ever passed by the 1st US Congress and signed in type by President George Washington. "An Act to Regulate the Time and Manner of Administering Certain Oaths" was the first law passed by the United States Congress. It was signed into law by President George Washington on June 1, 1789. This act established the process for administering oaths of office to federal and state officials, as required by the U.S. Constitution.Condition: Edge wear, overall fine. Disbound.
