Description

John F. Kennedy: Texas Welcome Dinner Place Cards. In the wake of the tragic events in Dallas on November 22, 1963, the reception and dinner planned for later that evening in Austin was cancelled. Most of the ephemera produced for that event was retained as souvenirs by organizers or would-be attendees. These were produced in multiples. We are pleased to offer something that is truly one-of-a-kind; namely, the place cards intended for the honored guests that evening. Each is printed on coated stock paper and measure 4" x 3.75". They have an imprint at the top with the Presidential seal and indicating their use at the "Texas Welcome Dinner Honoring President and Mrs. Kennedy and Vice President and Mrs. Johnson". The six cards are each hand-inscribed in fancy script with the names of the guests: "The President, Mrs. John F. Kennedy, The Vice President, Mrs. Lyndon B. Johnson, The Governor, Mrs. John Connolly". They have been been attractively matted and framed. They were retrieved on-site by the man in charge of the event, the Chairman of the State Democratic Executive Committee of Texas.
