Description

Rare Anti-Slavery Imprint. When this 64-page booklet was published (1854), Millard Fillmore was President. He was considered the first of the "dough-face" presidents... Northerners who favored the South and pandered to their advocacy of slavery. It was written by Chauncey Goodrich and published in Burlington, Vermont. The 6" x 9" imprint in pictorial wraps criticizes dough-faces, the Fugitive Slave law, slavery, and exhorts Northern citizens to oppose slavery and any efforts to promote it. It is designated Sabin 2816 and is quite rare. The condition is excellent.
