Description

Henry Clay: Possibly Unique Leather & Silk Stogie Case. Highly unusual 3" x 6 1/4" gold-stamped leather stogie case with applied silk portraits of "Henry Clay" on either side. One side (with slogans on the exposed liner included) is stamped "Anti-Humbug Candidate Harry of the West The Nation's Choice 1844." The other side reads: "The Working Man's Friend Henry Clay The Nation's Choice National Bank Tariff & Distribution." The inner sleeve fits snugly, but there is no lateral "bellows" to allow for expansion. Possibly issued as a prototype. Some chipping, abrasions and loss, but displays decently. We've never seen another and love the slogans! From the Scott W. Dolson Collection.
