Description

American Revolution: Tory or Loyalist Button. The 7/8" copper cuff or vest button, similar in design to some of the George Washington inaugural buttons, has intaglio lettering within a depressed channel reading "King and Constitution". It retains a good percentage of the original gilding in the recessed areas. Slightly bent, it still has the original shank. A dug button, it was discovered in the Niagara Falls region and dates from the time of the American Revolution. It would make an interesting "go-with" for your GW buttons.
