Description

Franklin D. Roosevelt: Four White House Christmas Gifts. Gifts include a pewter coaster from 1934 that was a Presidential Christmas gift to White House staff. Measures 4.75" diameter. With coin-style bust of the President at the top. Made at Val-Kill and stamped on the bottom.

Accompanied by a pewter letter opener from 1936 and was a Presidential Christmas gift to White House staff. Measures 5.75" x 1.75". With Presidential Seal emblem. Made at Val-Kill.

One pewter paperweight from 1938 which was a Presidential Christmas gift to White House staff. Made at Val-Kill with stamp mark on the bottom, the 3" x 2.5" x 1.25" paperweight features a bust of FDR stamped "President Franklin D. Roosevelt Hyde Park, NY" on the top.

And lastly, a pewter double-decker playing cards holder that was a Presidential Christmas gift to White House staff. Measures 3.5" x 2.25" x 1.25". With coin-style bust of the President mounted in a brass diamond-shaped design. Made at Val-Kill and stamped on the bottom. Val-Kill Industries was founded in 1927 by Eleanor Roosevelt and three other women so that local farming families could supplement their income by producing pewter objects, furniture, and textiles. Most Val-Kill objects were based on 18th century forms to reflect the popularity of the Colonial Revival style.

Condition: Light scuffs and rubbing.
