Description

Belva Lockwood: 1888 Equal Rights Party Rebus Ribbon. 2" x 6 1/4" satin ribbon with rebus components that, properly read, declare: "For President Belva Lockwood 1888." Lockwood & Stow were the Equal Rights Party candidates in 1888. She followed Victoria C. Woodhull as the second woman to run for President. Naturally, the ticket had no chance of success and very little funds were available for campaign paraphernalia. Accordingly, very little was produced. There are probably no more than 5 or 6 examples of this ribbon extant. It has three lateral internal pulls, plus general surface wear.
