Description

Abraham Lincoln: Terrific Salt Print Campaign Ribbon. We believe this rarity from the election of 1860 may possibly be unique. It is a 2 1/4" x 6" silk ribbon with a highly unusual salt print portrait of Lincoln affixed in the middle. We sold a similar ribbon with jugate portraits of Lincoln and Hamlin a few years ago for $15,000. This one is inscribed "Republican Standard Bearers. Lincoln and Hamlin." (printed slightly left of center). There are scattered stains, as shown. These salt prints are notoriously light in color. This example is quite bold.
