Description
Zachary Taylor: Personally-owned Eyeglasses and Case. 5 1/2" x 1 1/2" x 1/2" burgundy leather case containing a pair of gold eyeglasses that belonged to President Zachary Taylor. The custom-fitted case is lined in red velvet and white satin and has the paper label of Bailey &Co. of Philadelphia. There is a push-button release on the front. The top is slightly domed and is gold-stamped "Z. Taylor." There are gold-stamped design elements on all sides. The item passed to Taylor's youngest daughter, Ann Mackall Taylor and her husband, Richard Crooke Wood. It will be accompanied by a Letter of Provenance from the consigner detailing its line of ownership.Auction Info
