Description
Ulysses S. Grant: White House China. 7 1/2" dessert plate depicting the American coat of arms at top and a hand-painted poppy in the center. Part of a service ordered in 1869 and delivered to the White House in February 1870. Each plate in the service had a different flower. Similar to illustration #36 on page 94 of Klapthor's definitive book. Some chipping of the raised rim on the underside. The front of the plate appears perfect.Auction Info
