Description

Ulysses S. Grant: White House China. This 9" porcelain dinner plate was part of the service ordered for State dinners by President Grant in 1870. They were manufactured by Haviland and Company of Limoges, France and retailed by J. W. Boteler and Brother of Washington, D.C. Each piece in the setting had a different flower. This example has fuchsias. A similar example is shown on page 91 of the Klapthor book. There are three hairline cracks repaired with staples on the back side, some edge roughness and small chips.
