Description

John F. Kennedy: Sterling Silver Calendar Presidential Gift, 1962. Tiffany & Company sterling silver calendar mounted on wood, 4.5" x 3.75", presented to JFK's inner circle of advisors after the Cuban Missile Crisis October 1962. Following the crisis, President John F. Kennedy designed and had Tiffany & Company make sterling silver October 1962 calendars to present to his inner circle of advisors. The initials of the recipient were engraved on the upper left. The president's initials were engraved on the upper right. Etched more deeply and boldly than the others are the thirteen days of the crisis, October 16-28, when the world stood on the precipice of nuclear war, and the Kennedy administration pursued the path of peace. The president presented this calendar to Evelyn Lincoln, his devoted personal secretary throughout his public career, saying to her, "I had one made up for you, too. You went with us all the way." Her initials, "E.N.L.", are engraved on the upper left. The president's initials, "J.F.K.", are engraved on the upper right. Marked "TIFFANY & CO STERLING." Letter of authenticity from Harold Lincoln, Evelyn Lincoln's husband. Fine condition. From the Robert L. White Collection.

From the collection of Dr. Dean Rudoy.
