Description

A birthday present for the outgoing President

Harry S Truman: Personally Owned Money Clip. Having served eight years as President, during tumultuous times, Harry S. Truman was glad to leave office and return to the peaceful environs of Independence, Missouri. This 2.25" x 1" gold money clip (marked 14K) was a personal memento owned by the President at the time of his retirement. Its design is both unique and clever. It appears as a letter, postmarked May 8th (likely the date it was presented, being the President's birthday), addressed to "Harry S. Truman/ Washington, D.C. [crossed out], Independence, Mo". Like new condition. Provenance: Doyle's Fine Jewelry Sale, February 25, 2014, part of lot 559. From the estate of Margaret Truman Daniel.
