Description

Gerald Ford: Set of Presidential Golf Clubs. Jerry Ford was an avid golfer, following in the tradition first set by William Howard Taft. A round of golf was a good way to wind down and the perfect setting to clearly think through important decisions. This is a "Tsunami" set of clubs made by Golf Gear. The irons are marked 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, P, S and L. There is a mismatched sand wedge made by Lynx. There are four titanium woods, including a driver and clubs marked 3, 5, 7, and 9, plus a putter. The sturdy bag has two American flags sewn onto flaps plus the Presidential Seal and the embroidered name "Jerry Ford". There is a blue synthetic cloth zippered carrying case or cover which likewise has the Presidential Seal and name inscribed. The clubs were a gift to President Ford from the owner of the Edmonton Oilers Hockey Team. Gloves, tees and balls are not included. We are auctioning Mr. Ford's golf shoes and gloves in a separate lot. Proceeds of this auction will be used for the new Student Learning Center being developed by the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation. This lot will be accompanied by a letter of authenticity signed by Steve Ford.

The winning bidder will receive a letter from Steven Ford attesting to the fact that these were the clubs that President Ford kept at his Rancho Mirage home the last ten to twelve years of his life and that he used them regularly. Steven played golf about 100 times during this period where these clubs were used by his father. They have not been cleaned since their last use by President Ford.
