Description
George Washington: Commemorative Snuff Box. The portrait on this papier-mâché snuff box appears to be a circa 1875 chromolithograph that has been cut out and applied, decoupage style, to a box that predates it considerably. It was likely issued for the centennial celebration in either 1876 or 1889. There is a vertical split in the lid, on the side, and some minor chipping on the lip of the lower compartment. We feel this was a one-off or custom effort by a patriotic American citizen of years past.Auction Info
