Description
American Indian Black on Black Pottery Bowl by Blue Corn, Benefiting Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. Painted in matte against a polished slip the bowl is signed on bottom "Blue Corn / San Ildefonso Pueblo" The bowl is 4.5-inches high and 8-inches wide. Blue Corn (1920 - 1999), also known as Crucita Calabaza, was a Native American potter from San Ildefonso Pueblo, New Mexico. Her pottery can be found in the Smithsonian Institution and other leading museums throughout America and Europe as well as in private collections. This lot will be accompanied by a letter of authenticity signed by Lynda Johnson Robb.A full 100% of the net proceeds will benefit the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center at the University of Texas at Austin, in honor of the 2012 Centennial of Lady Bird Johnson's birth.
