[Abraham Lincoln and Ulysses S. Grant]: Personal Keepsake. Souvenir from the first meeting of President Lincoln and Lt. General U. S. Grant that occurred at the Executive Mansion on March 8, 1864. Grant arrived late for the reception and starting greeting guests at 9:30 P.M. Single kid-skin glove with note, mounted on card, inscribed in pencil: "Shook hands with President Lincoln & Genl. Grant with this glove on. March 8th 1864 at Washington in the East Room." The glove is in great condition... used once, then put away for safe keeping!
