Description

William Henry Harrison: Maryland Campaign Broadside. Although small in size (11" x 12"), this 1840 Whig broadside from Maryland has a tremendous amount of content and good graphics. It announces a "Harrison & Reform" meeting on August 1st. The sponsors of this meeting invite those of like-mind to attend, namely those opposed to the Sub-Treasury Act, in favor of a Protective Tariff, in favor of the distribution of the proceeds of the sales of public lands to the states, and opposed to a "Standing Army of 200,000 men (!!!) in time of profound peace." Attendees could look forward to a specially prepared dinner and distinguished speakers. Harrison broadsides are quite rare and this one gives a "lot of bang for the buck!"
