Thomas Nast: Original Sketch "King Reed". Cartoon picturing Speaker of the House Thomas Reed shouting as he towers over Senators Henry Cabot Lodge of Massachusetts and Senator George Hoar of Massachusetts. To the right of Reed is a document reading "King Reed Proclamation". To the left of Lodge is House Bill 11045, which authorizes the chief supervisor of elections of each judicial district of the U.S. to take action as is required to secure supervision in every congressional district as provided by U.S. laws. Above Lodge and Hoar is large bold letters is "Federal Election". The cartoon measures 12.25" x 17" and 18" x 23" matted overall. Nast has signed and dated (1892) the piece at the lower left corner.
