Description

John C. Frémont: Off-the-Charts New Hampshire Broadside. 22" x 29.5" broadside on thin paper, titled "Freeman's Grand Rally!" It advertises a political meeting at Raymond Center, New Hampshire on August 23, 1856. This has all the bells-and-whistles, including a eagle with ribbon in its beak reading "Fremont & Dayton", numerous slogans and exhortations. Besides the obligatory list of distinguished speakers and an open invitation to the ladies, it describes a flag featured in the event, emblazoned with the words "Liberty and Union. Fremont and Dayton." The graphics and assorted type fonts qualify this as a preeminent broadside for the first Republican candidate. Great condition. Matted and ready for framing. Absolutely superb!! No minimum bid. From the J.Doyle Dewitt Collection.
