Description

Horace Greeley: Never-Before-Seen Cartoon. 12.75" x 16.5" lithograph published by Taylor & Company of New York in 1872, titled "A Popular Verdict." Grant, dressed as an old woman, discusses with Uncle Sam his desire to remain as the tenant of the White House for four more years. Uncle Sam refuses, citing complaints from the neighbors, saying "So I've given the lease to 'Honest Horace Greeley' who will take better care of the place than you have." Greeley exits stage left with the White House lease in hand. Very good condition.
