1824 English Cartoon Lampooning America. 15" x 10.75" hand-colored cartoon titled: "The Mathew-Orama for 1824, or 'Pretty considerable d---d particular' Tid-bits from America - being 'All well at Natchitoches'". Published by G. Humphreys in London on April 15, 1824. There are thirteen Yankee types with captions below. The characters include a hunter, Kentucky shot maker, jester and an obese runaway slave. The comments reflect the snobbish attitude of the English towards their country-bumpkin cousins across the pond. Excellent condition save for four adhesive paper dots on the verso corners, from prior mounting.Auction Info
