Description

[Franklin Pierce] Anti-Winfield Scott Cartoon. Medium folio lithograph [14" x 21.25"] published by F. Smith of New York in 1852 titled "A Bad Egg. Fuss and Feathers." It depicts Whig Winfield Scott as a fighting cock who exclaims, "Cock a doodle doo! I'm Bill Sewards cock!!! Whose cock are you?" He presides over a "Free Soil" egg hatched at the Baltimore convention that nominated him. Despite the publisher's credit, likely a product of Nathaniel Currier. Faint sunning. Nicely matted and ready to frame. No minimum bid. From the J.Doyle Dewitt Collection.
