Description
[Civil War Era] "Young Men to the Rescue!" Recruitment Broadside. A lovely vivid green, this piece reads, "Your Country Calls!/ Young Men/ To the Rescue!" An attractive vignette of an eagle is near the top. Measuring at 18.625" x 23.875", this broadside lists volunteers' wages, with recruiting office information at the bottom. The text "Old Colony Memorial Press, Plymouth, MA, July 15, 1862" can be seen at the very bottom edge. Some wrinkling is present, and the broadside has been mounted to a board. Minor chipping can be seen on the edges, and there is some loss along the horizontal fold line beneath the eagle. Light tearing along the edges where creased is visible throughout. In overall good condition, the color retains an attractive green hue, and the print remains bold.Auction Info
