Description

Andrew Jackson: 1828 New York State Broadside. 14.5" x 21" broadside titled "Jackson Ticket." It lists the Democratic candidates, including Andrew Jackson, John C. Calhoun, and New York gubernatorial candidate Martin Van Buren. The bottom has an "Address" delivered at the convention held in New Paltz on October 22, 1828. Mounted to a circa 1870 Elmira, New York, Commercial College diploma. Even toning with some discoloration around the perimeter. The cataloger purchased this around 1966 for $100 and was advised by the venerable J. Doyle DeWitt that the price seemed "a little high, but not too bad." Currently matted and ready for framing. From the Merrill C. Berman Collection.
