Description

Woodrow Wilson: Great Preparedness Button. 1ΒΌ" button featuring a portrait of Wilson above an eagle and cannons, inscribed: "An American For America Preparedness". We don't know if this xenophobic button was directed towards Charles Evans Hughes, who was seen in some quarters as too sympathetic towards Germany. In any event, it is a highly desirable button from the close election of 1916. A very clean example with St. Louis Button Company back paper. From the Merrill C. Berman Collection.
