Description

William McKinley: Great Hobby Horse Pin. 2 1/8" button featuring a child-like McKinley wearing a gingham dress, Napoleon hat and riding a hobby horse converted from a broom. It is inscribed "My 'Hobby' A Winner". The "hobby" theme was popular from the late 1870's through 1900. The ingenuity, color and graphics make this a collector favorite and a must-have for any display of political buttons from the period. It is, unquestionably, the top single portrait McKinley pin. A mate was issued for Bryan and the possibility of obtaining the pair gives added appeal. It does have surface scratches, none of which break through the celluloid, the vast majority of which are viewable only at an angle. There is no foxing, stains, or other significant defects. It is perfectly centered with the brightest of colors. It is a "real winner".
