William Howard Taft: Elephant Vs. Donkey Political Race Button. This 2" cartoon button shows jockey Taft, riding the G.O.P. elephant, winning the race against jockey Bryan aboard the Democratic donkey. "Voters" watch the race from the stands. The curl indicates it was produced by F. F. Harl of St. Joseph, Missouri. This is a clean example (they usually come foxed), but it does have four diagonal celluloid cuts in the lower left quadrant. It has a Whitehead & Hoag back paper. We offer the Bryan mate elsewhere in the sale.Auction Info
