Description

Theodore Roosevelt: The Classic Clifford Berryman Teddy Bear Button Design. While there are some fierce competitors for the title, many collectors would deem this the top button design for this popular president. It features a Clifford Berryman cartoon image of a mini-Parade, with Roosevelt and running mate Charles Fairbanks high-stepping along in formal attire while a diminutive teddy bear on stilts brings up the rear carrying a banner reading "Four more years of Theodore". Berryman was of course the famed cartoonist credited with originating the Teddy Bear, one of the most ubiquitous images in twentieth century politics and popular culture. The present button example is a superb one, in virtually mint condition save for soiling on the original Torsch and Franz removable button paper on back. Diameter 1¾".
