Robert La Follette: Great Hopeful Button from 1908. Prior to Jim Jeffries in 1910, Progressive Wisconsin Governor Robert "Fighting Bob" La Follette was the Great White Hope[ful] in 1908. He hoped to succeed Theodore Roosevelt and continue his reforms, but failed to receive the Republican nomination. He appears on this button flanked by two monuments with resting lions, inscribed "Equal Rights to All". The button was issued by Charles K. Cohn of Milwaukee and is in excellent condition.
