Description

John F. Kennedy: One of the Very Best 1960 Campaign Button Varieties. Rarity, distinctive real-photo image, and great slogan combine to make this one of the most desirable Kennedy campaign issues. A very small number were produced, and sent to Kennedy's U.S. Senate office and to father Joe Kennedy in Massachusetts. So the story goes, Joe did not like the design, and ordered that red, white, and blue be used on any buttons produced for the campaign. Thus these "I'm Gone for John" buttons were distributed only to Kennedy's Washington staff. It has been estimated that not more than ten were ever issued, and only a few survive in collectors' hands. Beautiful condition. Diameter 3½".
