Description

John F. Kennedy: One-Day Issue Press Pin. A 2¼" celluloid badge, inscribed "Kennedy PRESS Nov. 7, 1960", printed in black on red. These buttons were issued in very limited quantities and typically given out to journalists. In this case, the consignor's father was a reporter for the Lowell Sun who covered the presidential election of 1960. The button was worn by him on the date indicated (the night before Election Day), at Boston Garden when JFK delivered a key speech of the campaign, "The Importance of the 1960 Presidential Election." Condition is excellent with some light surface scratches and a teensy dimple by the first "S" in "PRESS." An example with edge stains sold in the Bonnie Gardner Collection Sale for $3200. This is, we believe, only the second auction appearance of this piece.
