Description
Cox & Roosevelt and Harding & Coolidge Jugates: A Marvelous and Rare Matched Pair of 5/8" Pinbacks. This Cox & Roosevelt design by Whitehead & Hoag comes in three sizes, of which this is the smallest. The least rare form is the 7/8" version; there are fewer than five examples known in this diminutive size. Nonetheless, the smaller version has always sold for a little less. One negative has always been that, unlike the 7/8" size which can be easily "mated" with the Harding & Coolidge in the same size, the 5/8" version had no mate. However, here we have it, and in superb condition, as is the Cox & Roosevelt example. The color seems distinctly deeper and richer on these 5/8" buttons than is usually seen on the 7/8" examples, probably because the miniscule dots which make up the images and background are more concentrated. This choice, perfectly matched pair would be the crown jewel in any political collection!Auction Info
