Description
Macerated Currency: Four Scarce Historical Subjects. The first is a very high relief 4" plaque of Admiral Dewey who is referred to on the plaque as the "Hero of Manila". A number of very large currency pieces are visible on the surface of this well-produced piece. Unlike most, this Dewey plaque identifies its designer, manufacturer and copyright date of 1899 on the back. The second item is a similarly produced high relief 4" plaque portraying President Wilson surrounded by the words "Our President". The third item is a 3" plaque showing President McKinley surrounded by his name and the final item is a 4 1/2" x 8" crude but charming view of the Capitol Building. The Capitol plaque is a wonderful example of very early macerated currency. It is loaded with identifiable scraps throughout.Auction Info
