Description

Abraham Lincoln: Tousled Hair Portrait. Lincoln was photographed several times by Alexander Hesler. The first time occurred on February 28, 1857, resulting in the so-called "tousled hair" portrait, designed O-2. This is a circa 1880-1890 copy image by Max Platz of Chicago. Lincoln liked the image, but his wife did not. Lincoln wrote to a friend in 1860 that his opinion in such matters did not count for much.
