Description
Lyndon B. Johnson: White House Presidential Flag. This impressive Presidential Seal flag is made from a blue rayon material, with silver & gold metallic fringe sewn to three sides. The design is embroidered silk and appears on both sides. Hidden within the sleeve is an inspection patch with measurements that reads, "DCTSC/ Dir. For Mfg./ 5769/ Flg Disting/ Rayon w/ Fringe/ 4'x 4" Hoist/ 5' x 6" Fly, Type/ II Heading/ President/ 5 Mar 64/ Inspected." The handwritten initials "EF" appear next to the date. Very few flaws exist. Only a couple of loose threads are present, one at the star above the eagle's head to the right of the center and the other being one of the stars located beneath the eagle's talon clutching the branch. Mentioned only for accuracy-a light pink hue can barely be seen at the bottom of the eagle's white throat and in a couple of small areas of two of the white stripes in the shield. The condition is excellent, with the colors remaining vibrant and lovely. This is truly a beautiful sample. No minimum bid. From the J.Doyle Dewitt Collection.Auction Info
