Description
John C. Breckinridge: Wonderful Campaign Flag Banner. Awesome 24" x 16.5" cotton banner printed in red, blue and brown. It shows an eagle clutching a shield with a riband in its beak reading "Breckinridge and Lane." Three of the stars are covered in red or aqua felt. Nail holes along the hoist indicate this was used as a parade flag. Mounted to a linen support material and loosely affixed to a cloth-covered wooden stretcher frame. Scattered staining with some areas of loss and a 5.5" vertical tear along the right side. Breckinridge material is the rarest of the four candidates from 1860.
