Grant & Colfax: 1869 Inauguration Ball Invitation. A 10" x 7" engraved invitation on card stock to the March 4, 1869 "Inauguration Reception" for Grant & Colfax. Printed in light bronze ink by Philip & Solomons of Washington, D.C. and made out to "Miss Foot & Escort". Depicts Grant in Roman toga and laurel wreath, flanked by Miss Liberty and Goddess of Agriculture, Commerce, and the Arts. A very fine example.Auction Info
