Description
George Washington: GW in Oval Button. 34 mm. copper button in the "GW in Oval" (wide-spaced) pattern. It has the slogan "Long Live The President" and the initials of our first president. These were issued around the time of the April 30, 1789 inauguration of Washington at Federal Hall in New York City. It retains the original shank. The surfaces are smooth, glossy, with a bluish/iridescent patina. It is an exceptional example which probably looks better in person than the catalog photo.Auction Info
