A most unique and personal item from Franklin D. Roosevelt, a wonderful relic from the library of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, a secret book box made from a nineteenth-century leather-bound French volume entitled Biographie Universelle, measuring 5 x 7½,"from which two rectangular wells have been hollowed out to create a space for the storage of valuables. Both wells are lined with handsome marbleized paper matching the volume's endpapers. Purchased from the Christie's historic Franklin D. and Eleanor Roosevelt estate sale, February, 2001. General wear consistent with age, else this interesting item is in very good condition. A fabulous personal security item of FDR.
