Description

George Washington: The Iconic 1790 "Manly" Medal. One of the most important medals issued during Washington's life time. The "Manly Medal" was widely advertised and sold in America, unlike most medallic art which was aimed at a very limited audience. Not surprisingly, many examples exhibit various degrees of damage. This is an exceptionally nice example, grading About Uncirculated with some tinges of red. 48 mm copper, Baker 61B.
From the collection of Ed Sullivan.
