Copper Plate for Teddy Roosevelt's Nobel Peace Prize Check. Engraving plate, 10" x 5.5", Centralbanken For Norge, 1906, This copper plate printed the $37,734.79 check Roosevelt received as part of his Nobel Peace Prize package. Teddy, for helping negotiate the Portsmouth Treaty ending the Sino-Russian War, became the first American to win a Nobel Prize of any sort. Showing exceptionally good form, Roosevelt did not pick up the prize until he was out of office and then donated the money to various relief agencies during WWI. Extra Fine condition.Auction Info
