Description

Charles Bunnell 1847 ALS to Hon. J. H. Roth, August 7, 1847, Butternuts, NY, one page, 16" x 12.25" folded to 8" x 12.25". In this (poorly spelled) ALS to J. H. Roth in Washington, D.C., Bunnell writes (in part): "Honerd [sic] Sir / I take liberty to address you on Business which ought to be dun [sic] through some Politicle [sic] Friend, but not having any in the Field at preasent [sic], I make myself my own mediator." Bunnell requests a commission in the army "because my blood boils to be with my countrymen in arms". The verso, which was used as an envelope when folded, includes the postmark and handwritten address. Near fine condition with original folds, some wear and minor paper loss.
