Description

Breckinridge & Lane: Jugate Brady Ribbon. The Southern Democratic nominees in 1860 appear on this 2 1/2" x 6 3/4" silk ribbon. The portraits, engraved by J. C. Buttre of Boston, are based on Mathew Brady photos. It is part of a set of jugate ribbons issued for all four slates in the pivotal 1860 election. Only the Douglas & Johnson exceeds the Breckinridge in rarity. This is a clean example with a few loose threads at the top and bottom edges. Overall, this ribbon is in wonderful condition. No minimum bid. From the J.Doyle Dewitt Collection.
