Description

Abraham Lincoln: Rare Cooper Union Imprint Published by George F. Nesbitt. M-68, "The Address of the Hon. Abraham Lincoln... Delivered at Cooper Institute, February 27th 1860", New York, George F. Nesbitt & Company, 32 pages, later brown manila wraps. Internal "spider" tear in upper left corner of title page. Contrary to the diagnostic offered by Monaghan concerning the 1907 reprint, this has been proven untrue by the inclusion of a patently original example in the Holzer Collection where the last page is numbered "32". Very minor stain in lower left corner of pamphlet, most visible on the last page. A very rare imprint. A list of the officers of the Young Men's Republican Union and a preface dated "New-York, September, 1860." precede the text of the address itself. Issued after Lincoln received the Presidential nomination.
