Description

Winfield Scott and Daniel Webster: Two Cast Iron Plaques. These heavy wall plaques were very well made, with a nice, smooth finish for cast iron. The portraits are particularly well-done, immediately identifiable and in very high relief. The Scott example has a gilded border and measures 10.5" x 12.125". The Webster plaque has very little remnants of a gilded finish to its border and measures 10.75" x 12.625". Its back reads, "Chase Brothers & Co./ Design Patented/ July 27, 1852."

Condition: Minor paint peeling on Scott example, with scattered light oxidation. The Webster example has minimal traces of gilding along the border, with very light oxidation. Adhesive residue is at the back toward the top.
