Description

William Henry Harrison: Impressive Large Luster Pitcher. A lot of china was produced for Harrison in 1840, but this is a stand-out piece. It is a bulbous, strawberry luster pitcher with mulberry transfers. One side has the "Our Country's Hope. Harrison & Reform" transfer showing the candidate himself. Under the spout is a fasces and eagle clutching a banner reading "Union for the Sake of the Union". The other side shows the Harrison log cabin with a sign that reads: "To Let in 1841". The bottom has a wreath that reads: "Made for Robt. Miller Alexandria D.C." There is a small chip and manufacturing flaw on the inside of the spout. Overall, it is in great shape. These are far scarcer than the copper luster examples and this one is indeed impressive.
