Description

William Henry Harrison: Home-Made Notions Box. Paper-covered papier-mâché box with decoupage image of Harrison on the lid, taken from the cover of "The Tippecanoe Text-Book" published in 1840 by Duff Green of Baltimore. The interior has a circa 1844 newspaper clipping affixed that deals with a campaign parade in Utica. Given the redolent smell, it may have been used as an industrial-strength snuff box. The transfer has darkened over the years and there are some areas of wear. Quite different.
