Sought-After George Washington "Long Live the President" Liverpool Tankard. Among political collectors, this is perhaps the most desired of the many Liverpool varieties honoring Washington. Unlike most types, which are memorial items, and some others, which date from the pre-presidential 1780s, this is clearly from the time of his presidency. In addition to the great "Long Live the President" slogan, it has Miss Liberty warning against any "tongue that will utter a calumny against the immortal Washington, My Favorite Son." The tankard form is, additionally, the preferred form. Display condition is beautiful, with very strong, sharp transfer. Signed by the artist, F. Morris, of Shelton, England.
